Where are you located?  Altered By Amy is located at 85th N 3rd St. Suite B in Newark, OH at the corner of 3rd and Locust inside the Future Concept Building.  

What are your hours?  We are open Monday thru Friday Noon - 4 pm.  Private fitting appointments are schedule before Noon and after 4 pm.  At this time, we don’t have weekend or late evening hours.

Do I need an appointment? For basic alteration you can just walk in between Noon - 4 pm.  For formal wear you will need an appointment.  Plan ahead and schedule your appointment as soon as you know you need one (even if you are waiting on your dress).  March through October is the busiest time of the year.

What is the difference between basic alterations and formal alterations?  Basic alterations are repairs/changes done to clothing worn daily.  Formal alterations are repairs/changes done to clothing worn for a special event. 

How much do alterations cost? We have pricing guides for basic alterations and formal alterations.  Remember each person is unique and every garment is different.  Once we see the garment on you, we will give you an invoice for each sewing step we plan to use with the price.  There is a $25 fitting fee for formalwear and $50 fitting fee for bridalwear.  This fee is applied to the final cost of your alterations.  

Do you take measurements for specially made garments?  Yes, but you will need to sign a waiver stating you understand submitting measurements does NOT guarantee the garment your order will fit your body correctly.  There is a $10 fee for the measurements.  We recommend using measurements to order existing sizes from well established companies that have good return policies. 

How long do alterations take?  We work really hard to complete basic alterations within 2 weeks.  Formal alterations take longer and will be completed based on our sewing production calendar.  Rush orders can be added only when our schedule allows. 

Do you make custom clothing or home décor items?  No, not at this time.  Clothing is our focus.
